Rick Bookstaber

Rick Bookstaber is the Senior Policy Adviser to the Financial Stability Oversight Council and also Senior Policy Adviser at the SEC. Before his current stint in the public sector, he worked at Bridgewater Associates, ran the Quantitative Equity Fund at FrontPoint Partners and was in charge of risk management at Moore Capital Management. In the investment banking arena, he was in charge of firm-wide risk at Salomon Brothers and was a member of Salomon’s powerful Risk Management Committee. Rick also spent ten years at Morgan Stanley, first designing derivatives, doing proprietary trading, and concluded his tenure there as the firm’s first market risk manager.
In addition to his recent book, A Demon of Our Own Design, he is the author of three other books and scores of articles on finance, ranging from option theory to risk management. He has won the Graham and Dodd Scroll from the Financial Analysts Federation and the Roger F. Murray Award from the Institute for Quantitative Research in Finance for my research. He was Fulbright Scholar and Visiting Professor at Hebrew University of Jerusalem. Rick received a Ph.D. in economics from MIT.
